यह कहावत एक तस्वीर/फोटो की महत्ता को अभिव्यक्त करती है एक फोटो में कई भाव छिपे होते हैं। एक फोटो में एक कहानी हो सकती है, जिसमें उत्सव का चरम, युद्ध की विभीषिका और करुणा की सरिता भी हो सकती है।
• हर वर्ष 19 अगस्त को विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस (World Photography Day) मनाया जाता है
• यह दिन व्यक्ति के जीवन में कैमरे और फोटोग्राफी के महत्त्व को सम्मान देता है। दुनियाभर में फोटोग्राफी प्रिय व्यक्ति इस मोके पर तस्वीरें खींचने की कला का उत्सव मनाते हैं।

इतिहास
● विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस की शुरुआत के संकेत वर्ष 1837 से देखे जा सकते हैं। फ्रांस में जोसेफ नाइसफोर नीप्स और लुई डागुएरे ने पहली बार फोटोग्राफिक प्रक्रिया देग्युरोटाइप का आविष्कार किया था।
देगयुरोटाइप एक प्रारंभिक फोटोग्राफिक प्रक्रिया हैं जिसमे बनाने वाली तस्वीर/छवि को आयोडीन के प्रति संवेदनशील चांदी की प्लेट पर बनाकर पारा वाष्प में विकसित किया गया था।
• फ्रेंच एकेडमी ऑफ साइंसेज ने आधिकारिक तौर पर वर्ष 1839 में जनता के लिए देग्युरोटाइप के आविष्कार की घोषणा की थी।
• माना जाता है कि 19 अगस्त, 1839 को फ्रांसीसी सरकार ने इस उपकरण के लिये पेटेंट खरीद लिया और इसे दुनिया के लिए स्वतंत्र रूप से उपलब्ध कराया। बाद में, इस दिन को विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस (World Photography Day) के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा।
• वर्ष 1861 में पहली स्थायी रंगीन फोटो खींची गई थी। तभी से फोटोग्राफी कला विकसित होती रही।
• वर्ष 1957 में पहली डिजिटल फोटो बनाई गई थी।

History
● The beginning of World Photography Day can be traced back to the year 1837. In France, Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Louis Daguerre invented the first photographic process, the daguerreotype.
Daguerreotypes are an early photographic process in which the forming photograph/image was developed in mercury vapor by placing it on a silver plate sensitive to iodine.
• The French Academy of Sciences officially announced the invention of the Daguerreotype to the public in the year 1839.
• It is believed that on August 19, 1839, the French government bought the patent for this device and made it freely available to the world. Later, this day came to be celebrated as World Photography Day.
• The first permanent color photograph was taken in the year 1861. Since then the art of photography kept on developing.
• The first digital photo was made in the year 1957.
