यह सॉफ्टवेयर मुख्यत: इमेज एडिटिंग के लिए प्रयोग में लाया जाता है। इसकी सहायता से डिजाइनर अपनी सृजन क्षमता को अधिक प्रभावशाली ढंग से प्रस्तुत कर सकता है। इसके द्वारा इमेज एडिटिंग टूल्स की सहायता से जटिल आकारों में भी विभिन्न पेंटिंग टूल्स एवं फिल्टर्स द्वारा विभिन्न प्रभाव डाले जा सकते हैं। फोटोशॉप द्वारा चित्रों के निमार्ण एवं स्कैनर द्वारा स्कैन किये गये फोटो या चित्रों में विभिन्न आकार के ब्रश, एयर ब्रश, पैंसिल, इमेज रोटेशन, रंगों के प्रभाव एवं सन्तुलन, फैदर, इमेज में बैकग्राउण्ड बदलना, आदि। के द्वारा विभिन्न प्रभाव डाले जाते हैं। इन प्रभावों का उपयोग विभिन्न प्रकार के टेक्स्ट एवं लोगोटाइप आदि में भी किया जा सकता है। इस सॉफ्टवेयर में कार्य करते समय लेयर्स का प्रयोग किया जाता हैं। फोटोशॉप द्वारा इमेज रेडी के सहयोग से वेब ग्राफिक्स में भी विभिन्न प्रभाव डाले जा सकते हैं। वर्तमान में फोटो शॉप CS-6 एवं Photoshop-CC संस्करण उपलब्ध है।
Photoshop-7.0 के मुख्य टूल एवं उनका उपयोग:-

Marquee Tool - इस टूल के द्वारा आयताकार, वर्गाकार एवं गोलाई में सलेक्शन किया जाता है।
- Lasso Tool - इस टूल द्वारा इमेज या उसके किसी भी भाग को स्वतंत्र रूप से सलेक्ट करते हैं।
- Crop Tool - इस टूल का उपयोग इमेज के अनावश्यक भाग को काटने के लिए किया जाता है।
- Healing Brush Tool - इस टूल की सहायता से इमेज या उसके किसी भी भाग में ब्रश (एयर ब्रश) आदि के द्वारा रंग भरते हैं।
- Clone Stamp Tool - इस टूल की सहायता से इमेज या उसके किसी भी भाग की हू-ब-हू नकल दूसरे स्थान पर बना सकते हैं।
- Eraser Tool - इसके द्वारा इमेज को मिटाया जाता है।
- Smudge Tool - स्मज टूल के प्रयोग से इमेज के तत्वों में समरूपता (मिलान) लाने का कार्य किया जाता है।
- Direct Selection Tool- यह टूल इमेज के डायरेक्ट सलेक्शन के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है।
- Path selection Tool - इसके द्वारा इमेज में स्वतंत्र रूप से पाथ लाइनें लगाई जाती हैं।

- Hand Tool - इस टूल के सहयोग से इमेज को ऊपर-नीचे एवं दायें-बायें खिसकाते हैं।
- Move Tool – इस टूल द्वारा इमेज या उसके किसी भाग को एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर ले जाते हैं।
- Magic Wand Tool – यह टूल इमेज में प्रयुक्त किसी भी एक रंग के पिक्सल्स (Pixels) को सलेक्ट करने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है।
- Slice Tool- इस टूल द्वारा इमेज को छोटी-छोटी फाइलों में बाँटा जाता है।
- Paint Brush Tool - इस टूल द्वारा इमेज में कहीं भी साधारण ब्रश के प्रयोग से रंग भरते हैं।
- History Brush Tool- इस ब्रश द्वारा इमेज में विभिन्न प्रभाव डालने के बाद इमेज के किसी भी भाग को दुबारा उसी स्थिति में लाया जा सकता है।

- Dodge Tool - यह टूल इमेज में प्रयुक्त रंगों को हल्का (टोनिंग) करने के लिए प्रयोग करते हैं।
- Type Tool - इस टूल से लिखने का कार्य करते हैं।

- Custom Shape Tool - इस टूल द्वारा विभिन्न आकार आयत, वर्ग, पंचभुज, गोला एवं लाइनें बनायी जाती है।
- Gradient/Paint Bucket - इस टूल द्वारा इमेज में अनुक्रम (ग्रेडियन्ट) प्रभाव वाले रंग भरे जाते हैं।
- Eyedropper Tool - इस टूल द्वारा इमेज में प्रयुक्त रंगों में से किसी भी रंग का चुनाव कर उसे अग्रभूमि (फोरग्राउण्ड) रंग के रूप में प्रयुक्त कर सकते हैं।
- Zoom Tool - इस टूल के प्रयोग से इमेज या उसके किसी भी भाग को बड़ा करके देख सकते हैं।
- Foreground Color, Background Color, Standard Mode, Quick Mask Mode एवं Screen Mode के प्रयोग के अतिरिक्त प्रत्येक टूल के बाक्स में नीचे दाये कोने में बने (4) तिकोन पर क्लिक करने से उस टूल के प्रतिरूप सामने आते हैं जिनका प्रयोग इमेज में अलग-अलग प्रकार के कार्य करने के लिए किया जाता है। उपर्युक्त टूल पर दो बार क्लिक करने से इनके ऑप्शन दिखाई देते हैं जिनका प्रयोग भी आवश्यकतानुसार किया जाता है।

फोटो शॉप के मीनू बार में स्थापित विभिन्न मीनू File, Edit, Image, Layer, Select, Filter, View, Window के विभिन्न सहायक मीनू (Sub Menu) जैसे- New File, Open, Save, Save As, Printing, Pasting, Cuting, Image Size, Rotate Canvas, Layers, Proof Setup, Fit on Screen, Print Size आदि एवं विभिन्न प्लेट्स (Color Plate, Navigator Plate, Swatches Plate, Style Plate, History Plate, Layer Plate, Path Plate, Brushes Plate आदि) के विभिन्न ऑप्शनों के प्रयोग द्वारा आसानी से आवश्यकतानुसार कार्य किया जा सकता है तथा आवश्यकता पड़ने पर Help मीनू की सहायता भी ली जा सकती है।

This software is mainly used for image editing. With the help of this, the designer can present his creative ability in a more effective way. With the help of image editing tools, various effects can be made by different painting tools and filters even in complex shapes. Creation of images by Photoshop and scanning photos or images by the scanner with different sizes of brushes, airbrushes, pencils, image rotation, color effects, and balance, feathering, changing the background in the image, etc. There are various effects. These effects can also be used in different types of text and logotypes etc. Layers are used while working in this software. Various effects can also be done in web graphics with the help of Image Ready by Photoshop. Currently, Photoshop CS-6 and Photoshop CC versions are available.
The main tools of Photoshop - 7.0 and their use:-
- Marquee Tool - With this tool, the selection is made in rectangular, square, and round.
- Lasso Tool - This tool allows you to freely select an image or any part of it.
- Crop Tool - This tool is used to cut the unnecessary part of the image.
- Healing Brush Tool - With the help of this tool, color is filled in the image or any part of it by means of airbrush, etc.
- Rubber Stamp Tool - With the help of this tool, you can make an exact copy of the image or any part of it in another place.
- Eraser Tool - This is used to erase the image.
- Smudge Tool - The Smudge tool is used to bring uniformity to the elements of the image.
- Direct Selection Tool - This tool is used for direct selection of images.
- Path Tool - Through this, path lines are added to the image independently.
- Hand Tool - With the help of this tool, the image is moved up-down and right-left.
- Move Tool - This tool moves the image or any part of it from one place to another.
- Magic Wand Tool - This tool is used to select the pixels of any one color used in the image.
- Slice Tool - With this tool, the image is divided into small files.
- Paint Brush Tool - This tool fills color anywhere in the image with the use of a simple brush.
- History Brush Tool - After applying various effects to the image with this brush, any part of the image can be brought back to the same position.
- Dodge Tool - This tool is used to lighten the colors used in the image.
- Type Tool - Let's work on writing with this tool.
- Custom Shape Tool - This tool creates different shapes rectangles, squares, pentagons, spheres, and lines.
- Gradient / Paint Bucket - This tool fills the image with gradient effect colors.
- Eyedropper Tool - With this tool, you can select any of the colors used in the image and use it as a foreground color.
- Zoom Tool - Using this tool, you can enlarge the image or any part of it.
In addition to the use of Foreground Color, Background Color, Standard Mode, Quick Mask Mode, and Screen Mode, clicking on the (4) tick in the bottom right corner of each toolbox reveals the patterns of the tools that are used to perform different types of tasks in the image. Double-clicking on the above tool shows the options which are also used as per the requirement.
In the menu bar of the Photoshop, various menus such as File, Edit, Image, Layer, Select, Filter, View, Window, and various sub-menus such as New File, Open, Save, Save As, Printing, Pasting, Cutting, Image Size, Rotate Canvas, Layers, Proof Setup, Fit on Screen, Print Size, etc. and various plates (Color Plate, Navigator Plate, Swatches Plate, Style Plate, History Plate, Layer Plate, Path Plate, Brushes Plate, etc.) can be easily done by using various options.
