कला का अर्थ
किसी भी कार्य को पूरी कुशलता या निपुणता से सम्पन्न करना कला कहलाता है। जैसे:- मूर्ति बनाना, चित्र बनाना, भवन या मंदिर बनाना, गीत गाना, काव्य रचना, आदि।
गीत गाना कला तभी कही जायेगी जब गीत सुमधुर और लय-ताल के साथ गाया जाये। इसी प्रकार काव्य, नाटक, चित्र, मूर्ति, आदि। कला की परिधि में तभी आयेगी जब उसमें अर्थ, रस, भाव और रूप की सुन्दर निष्पति हो।
कला शब्द का प्रयोग सर्वप्रथम ऋग्वेद में हुआ है। कला संस्कृत भाषा का शब्द है। इसकी व्युत्पत्ति कल धातु से हुई है जिसका अर्थ होता है:- प्रेरित करना। लेकिन कुछ विद्वान इसकी उत्पति कड़ धातु से मानते हैं जिसका अर्थ होता है:- प्रसन्न करना
कला की परिभाषा
रविन्द्रनाथ टैगोर के अनुसार, “कला में मनुष्य अपनी अभिव्यक्ति करता है।"
जयशंकर प्रसाद के अनुसार, “ईश्वर की कर्तव्यशक्ति का संकुचित रूप जो हमको बोध के लिए मिलता है, वही कला है।"
मैथलीशरण गुप्त के अनुसार, “अभिव्यक्ति की कुशल शक्ति ही तो कला है, जो अपूर्ण कला की पूर्ति है।"
नीत्शे के अनुसार, “कला जीवन के कड़वे अनुभवों से मुक्ति का माध्यम है।
Note:- फ्रेडरिक नीत्शे जर्मनी के दार्शनिक थे। मनोविश्लेषणवाद, अस्तित्ववाद एवं परिघटनामूलक चिंतन के विकास में नीत्शे की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है। व्यक्तिवादी तथा राज्यवादी दोनों प्रकार के विचारकों ने उनसे प्रेरणा भी ली है।
प्लेटो के अनुसार, "कला सत्य की अनुकृति है।"
Note:- प्लेटो, या अफ़्लातून, यूनान के प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक थे। वह सुकरात के शिष्य तथा अरस्तू के गुरू थे। यूरोप में ध्वनियों के वर्गीकरण का श्रेय प्लेटो को ही जाता है।अरस्तू के अनुसार, "कला प्रकृति का अनुकरण हैं।"
Note:- अरस्तु यूनानी दार्शनिक थे। वे प्लेटो के शिष्य व सिकंदर के गुरु थे। उनका जन्म स्टेगेरिया नामक नगर में हुआ था। अरस्तु ने भौतिकी, आध्यात्म, कविता, नाटक, संगीत, तर्कशास्त्र, राजनीति शास्त्र, नीतिशास्त्र, जीव विज्ञान सहित कई विषयों पर रचना की। अरस्तु ने अपने गुरु प्लेटो के कार्य को आगे बढ़ाया।फ्रायडं के अनुसार, "कला दमित वासनाओं का उभरा हुआ रूप है।"
Note:- सिग्मंड फ्रायड आस्ट्रिया हंगरी के तंत्रिकाविज्ञानी तथा मनोविश्लेषण के संस्थापक थे।
क्रोचे के अनुसार, "हर एक महान कला ईश्वरीय कृति के प्रति मानव अहलाद की अभिव्यक्ति है।"
Note:- बेनेदितो क्रोचे इटली का आत्मवादी दार्शनिक था। उसने अनेकानेक विषयों पर लिखा जिनमें दर्शन, इतिहास, सौन्दर्य शास्त्र आदि प्रमुख हैं। वह उदारवादी विचारक था किन्तु उसने मुक्त व्यापार का विरोध किया।टाल्सटॉय के अनुसार, "कला भावों को क्रिया, रेखा, रंग, ध्वनि या शब्दो द्वारा इस प्रकार अभिव्यक्त करना है जिसे देखने या सुनने वाले के मन में वही भाव उत्पन्न हो जाये।
हीगेल के अनुसार, "कला आदि भौतिक सत्ता को व्यक्त करने का माध्यम है।"
रस्किन के अनुसार, "कला में मनुष्य अपनी भावनाओं की अभिव्यक्ति प्रस्तुत करता है।

Meaning of art
To complete any work with full skill is called art. Such as:- Making Sculpture, making Painting, making buildings or temples, singing a songs, composing poetry, etc.
singing a songs art will be called then should be song with melody and rhythm. Similarly poetry, drama, pictures, idols, etc. The net will come under the periphery of art, only then there should be beautiful results of artha, rasa, emotion and form.
The word Kala is first used in Rigveda. Art is a Sanskrit word. It is derived from the root kal which means:- To inspire. But some scholars consider its origin from the kadh, which means: - Happiness.
Definition of Art
According to Rabindranath Tagore, “Man expresses himself in art.”
According to Jaishankar Prasad, "The narrow form of the power of God's duty which we get for realization, that is art."
According to Maithilisharan Gupta, "Art is the skillful power of expression, which is the fulfillment of imperfect art."
According to Nietzsche, “Art is a means of liberation from the bitter experiences of life.
Note:- Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher. Nietzsche has played an important role in the development of psychoanalysis, existentialism and phenomenological thinking. Both individualist and stateist thinkers have also taken inspiration from him.
According to Plato, "Art is the imitation of truth."
Note:- Plato, or Aflatun, was a famous Greek philosopher. He was a disciple of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. Plato is credited with classifying sounds in Europe.
According to Aristotle, "Art is the imitation of nature.
Note:- Aristotle was a Greek philosopher. He was a disciple of Plato and a teacher of Alexander. He was born in a town called Stegeria. Aristotle composed on many subjects including physics, spirituality, poetry, drama, music, logic, political science, ethics, biology. Aristotle carried forward the work of his mentor Plato.
According to Freud, "Art is the embodiment of repressed desires."
Note:- Sigmund Freud was an Austrian Hungarian neuroscientist and the founder of psychoanalysis.
According to Kroche, "Every great art is an expression of the human spirit towards a divine creation."
According to Tolstoy, "Art is the expression of emotion by action, line, colour, sound or words in such a way that the same emotion arises in the mind of the one who sees or hears it."
According to Hegel, "Art etc. is a means of expressing material existence."
According to Ruskin, "In art man presents the expression of his feelings.
