essential for leveraging your efforts.
Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you
understand the LD recommendations:
Q.- I am maintaining a copy for taking the class notes. Will it be
accepted as a Learning Diary (LD)?
Ans.- No. The Class notes copy should not be presented as the Learning
Diary. However, the class notes will be beneficial in preparing the Learning
Diary.
Q.- The notebook used in the field for taking the field notes will be accepted as the Learning Diary?
Ans.- No. The field notes will not be accepted as the Learning Diary.
The field notes will be beneficial in the making of the Learning Diary.
Q.- What will happen if I do not maintain a learning diary (LD)?
Ans.- Your LD is often used for academic evaluation purposes. So, you
may not be able to score the weightage of LD marks.
Most importantly, you will not be able to leverage the efforts that you are already making during your academic pursuits. Furthermore, you will miss the ability to retain your learnings for longer.
Learning Diary is a simple yet effective way of consolidating your learning about a subject. By maintaining one, you can retain your learnings for longer. It is also an effective way to articulate your thoughts. Moreover, it will keep your quest for knowledge ignited.
You are already investing much time in learning things, attending classes, doing field visits, referring to books, articles, and journals, watching movies, doing craft research and documentation, doing industry internships, doing graduation projects, etc. Our brains can not retain most learnings beyond a few days/hours. When making class/field notes, it is primarily a few words/sentences. It needs to give a clearer picture of the topic. Moreover, if you go through your notes after a few months, you may struggle to figure out the full context of your notes unless explicitly mentioned/ described. Not maintaining an LD is a golden opportunity missed.
Q.- I am maintaining the class notes, field notes, scrapbooks, etc., then why should I make a Learning Diary?
Ans.- The purpose of a learning diary is to consolidate your
learnings. It helps you leverage your time and efforts invested in learning.
Let us consider this:
When you are introduced to a topic (It may be new to you, or
you may already have some idea about it), your knowledge about it is formed by
multiple sources like - lectures, demonstrations, experiments, books, articles,
newspapers, magazines, or interaction with a stakeholder, conversation with
other learners, experience sharing, movie, video, social media post, and many
more. When you are making entries into class notes or field notes, it is merely
taking a dictation about the topic and what the faculty member/subject expert
is talking about the topic. It is devoid of your input and reflection.
You must refer to many sources to make a learning diary about a
topic. Firstly, note your existing knowledge about the topic (if you already
know about the topic). Then what does the subject faculty say?
(Refer to class notes), What does the subject expert say? (refer to field
visit / interview / books/ articles /other forms of document, etc.),
Information from other sources, consolidate all this information in your LD.
Try making the LD visually aesthetic and documenting different contexts about
the topic. Different colours may also be used to emphasise. Drawing should be
incorporated as much as possible. This way, you can synthesise various
information about the topic in one place.
Your reflection on the findings is critical, so next, you should
describe how you relate to these findings.
Why is it important to you? Or what is the significance of this
topic? To you ? to others? to a stakeholder?
What changes did you observe in your notion about the topic?
How are you going to use this information? In what all ways can
you apply/utilise this knowledge?
For whom this information is going to be most helpful?
Is there any financial implication involved? If yes, quantify
...
Leave some space to add more information about the topic later.
Moreover, when you keep adding different topics about a subject in your LD, your knowledge about the subject keeps getting consolidated.
When you make so much effort to make your learning diary rich
with content and beautiful to look at, that is when the magic begins.
You will always feel like going through your learning diary. When you flip the pages and review your learning diary, you can recall all your efforts to learn the topic. It will take you through your journey of learning. It will bolster your learning. It will also help you quickly revise all your learnings in a subject. It will be a valuable resource for the subject. Furthermore, it can be used as reference material throughout.
Q.- What will be an acceptable form of a Learning Diary?
Ans.- Any copy/notebook or collection of papers (like A4/A5 size
papers) - some plain, some ruled, some graph sheets, some squared sheets,
gateway sheets, tracing papers, TK/ ivory sheets, etc.) can be used for
preparing the Learning Diary. The primary criteria for a Learning Diary
are its contents.
Q.- What should be the content of a Learning Diary?
Ans.- A learning Diary is evidence of your learning. The contents
should be such that by referring to it, you may recount your learning process
and how you have come to form an understanding of the chosen topic. It is the
synthesis of information gathered from various sources, like the class notes,
field notes, interviews, discussions, Books, articles, journals, video sources,
newspapers, museum visits, expert interactions, etc.
· The entries should be made date-wise.
· A detailed description of the chosen topic should be written.
· You may keep an option/ scope to add more relevant information.
Creating an LD is a process-based activity. The contents get
shaped as the learning progresses, your level of understanding develops, your
clarity of concepts is achieved, and the thought process gets more focused,
structured and streamlined. Making the LD should be started as early as
possible in the process.
The progress will inform the contents of the learning diary of
your studies.
· It should contain your preconceived notion about the topic, your
apprehensions and expectations, and how your opinion changed ( if it did)
throughout your study.
· It should reflect your understanding of the core issues about
the topic of study.
· Which of these issues are important? And why?
· What did you find about it?
· In the process of your probe, what did you learn?
· What was it that you were not able to understand?
· Where and how would you like to apply/ use this study?
It should have the synthesis and analysis of your learnings
about the topic. You should critically reflect upon your learning and
articulate well; what did you learn? How is it going to be helpful for you?
What else would you like to know more about it?

उत्तर.- नहीं, फ़ील्ड नोट्स को लर्निंग डायरी के रूप में स्वीकार नहीं किया जाएगा। फील्ड नोट्स लर्निंग डायरी बनाने में लाभकारी होंगे।
प्रश्न.- यदि मैं सीखने की डायरी (एलडी) नहीं रखता तो क्या होगा?
उत्तर.- आपके एलडी का उपयोग अक्सर शैक्षणिक मूल्यांकन उद्देश्यों के लिए किया जाता है। यदि आप आप एलडी नहीं रखते है तो उसके अंकों का वेटेज स्कोर करने में सक्षम नहीं हो सकते हैं।
सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि आप अपनी शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों के दौरान पहले से ही किए जा रहे प्रयासों का लाभ नहीं उठा पाएंगे। इसके अलावा, आप अपनी सीख को लंबे समय तक बनाए रखने की क्षमता से चूक जाएंगे। लर्निंग डायरी किसी विषय के बारे में आपकी सीख को समेकित करने का एक सरल लेकिन प्रभावी तरीका है। इसे बनाए रखकर आप अपनी सीख को लंबे समय तक बरकरार रख सकते हैं। यह अपने विचारों को व्यक्त करने का भी एक प्रभावी तरीका है। इसके अलावा, यह आपकी ज्ञान की खोज को प्रज्वलित रखेगा।
आप पहले से ही चीजों को सीखने, कक्षाओं में भाग लेने, क्षेत्र का दौरा करने, पुस्तकों, लेखों और पत्रिकाओं का संदर्भ लेने, फिल्में देखने, शिल्प अनुसंधान और दस्तावेज़ीकरण करने, उद्योग इंटर्नशिप करने, स्नातक परियोजनाएं करने आदि में बहुत समय खर्च कर रहे हैं। हमारा दिमाग इन सभी बातो को लम्बे समय तक नहीं रख सकता है अधिकांश बाते कुछ दिनों/घंटों से अधिक नहीं रहती है। क्लास/फ़ील्ड नोट्स बनाते समय, यह मुख्य रूप से कुछ शब्द/वाक्य होते हैं। इसे विषय की स्पष्ट तस्वीर देने की आवश्यकता है। इसके अलावा, यदि आप कुछ महीनों के बाद अपने नोट्स को देखते हैं, तो आपको अपने नोट्स के पूर्ण संदर्भ को समझने में कठिनाई हो सकती है जब तक कि स्पष्ट रूप से उल्लेख/वर्णन न किया गया हो। एलडी न बनाए रखना एक सुनहरा अवसर गँवाना है।
प्रश्न.- मैं क्लास नोट्स, फील्ड नोट्स, स्क्रैपबुक आदि का रखरखाव कर रहा हूं, फिर मुझे लर्निंग डायरी क्यों बनानी चाहिए?
उत्तर.- लर्निंग डायरी का उद्देश्य आपकी सीख को समेकित करना है। यह आपको सीखने में लगाए गए अपने समय और प्रयासों का लाभ उठाने में मदद करता है।
आइए इस पर विचार करें:-
जब आपको किसी विषय से परिचित कराया जाता है (यह आपके लिए नया हो सकता है, या आपको इसके बारे में पहले से ही कुछ जानकारी हो सकती है), तो इसके बारे में आपका ज्ञान कई स्रोतों से बनता है जैसे - व्याख्यान, प्रदर्शन, प्रयोग, किताबें, लेख, समाचार पत्र, पत्रिकाएँ , या किसी एक्सपर्ट के साथ बातचीत, अन्य शिक्षार्थियों के साथ बातचीत, अनुभव साझा करना, मूवी देखना, वीडियो, सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट और बहुत कुछ। जब आप कक्षा नोट्स या फ़ील्ड नोट्स में प्रविष्टियाँ कर रहे हैं, तो यह केवल विषय के बारे में श्रुतलेख ले रहा है और संकाय सदस्य/विषय विशेषज्ञ विषय के बारे में क्या बात कर रहे हैं। यह आपके इनपुट और प्रतिबिंब से रहित है।
किसी विषय के बारे में लर्निंग डायरी बनाने के लिए आपको कई स्रोतों का संदर्भ लेना होगा। सबसे पहले, विषय के बारे में अपने मौजूदा ज्ञान पर ध्यान दें (यदि आप विषय के बारे में पहले से जानते हैं)। तो फिर विषय फैकल्टी क्या कहते है? (क्लास नोट्स देखें), विषय विशेषज्ञ क्या कहते हैं? (क्षेत्र का दौरा/साक्षात्कार/पुस्तकें/लेख/दस्तावेज़ के अन्य रूप आदि देखें), अन्य स्रोतों से जानकारी, इस सभी जानकारी को अपने एलडी में समेकित करें। एलडी को दृश्यात्मक रूप से सौंदर्यपूर्ण बनाने और विषय के बारे में विभिन्न संदर्भों का दस्तावेजीकरण करने का प्रयास करें। बेतर प्रभाव देने के लिए विभिन्न रंगों का भी उपयोग किया जा सकता है। ड्राइंग को यथासंभव शामिल किया जाना चाहिए। इस तरह, आप विषय के बारे में विभिन्न जानकारी को एक ही स्थान पर संश्लेषित कर सकते हैं।
निष्कर्षों पर आपका चिंतन महत्वपूर्ण है, इसलिए आगे, आपको यह वर्णन करना चाहिए कि आप इन निष्कर्षों से कैसे संबंधित हैं।
यह आपके लिए क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है? अथवा इस विषय का क्या महत्व है? आपको ? दूसरों के लिए? किसी हितधारक को?
विषय के बारे में आपने अपनी धारणा में क्या बदलाव देखे?
आप इस जानकारी का उपयोग कैसे करेंगे? आप इस ज्ञान को किन-किन तरीकों से लागू/उपयोग कर सकते हैं?
यह जानकारी किसके लिए सर्वाधिक उपयोगी होगी?
क्या इसमें कोई वित्तीय निहितार्थ शामिल है? यदि हाँ, तो मात्रा निर्धारित करें...
बाद में विषय के बारे में अधिक जानकारी जोड़ने के लिए कुछ स्थान छोड़ें।
इसके अलावा, जब आप अपने एलडी में किसी विषय के बारे में अलग-अलग विषय जोड़ते रहते हैं, तो विषय के बारे में आपका ज्ञान समेकित होता रहता है।
जब आप अपनी सीखने की डायरी को सामग्री से समृद्ध और देखने में सुंदर बनाने के लिए इतना प्रयास करते हैं, तभी मैजिक शुरू होता है।
आपको हमेशा अपनी लर्निंग डायरी पढ़ने का मन करेगा। जब आप पन्ने पलटते हैं और अपनी लर्निंग डायरी की समीक्षा करते हैं, तो आप विषय को सीखने के अपने सभी प्रयासों को याद कर सकते हैं। यह आपको सीखने की आपकी यात्रा में ले जाएगा। यह आपके सीखने को बढ़ावा देगा. यह आपको किसी विषय में अपनी सभी सीखों को शीघ्रता से दोहराने में भी मदद करेगा। यह विषय के लिए एक मूल्यवान संसाधन होगा। इसके अलावा, इसका उपयोग संपूर्ण संदर्भ सामग्री के रूप में किया जा सकता है।
प्रश्न.- लर्निंग डायरी का स्वीकार्य स्वरूप क्या होगा?

उत्तर - एक लर्निंग डायरी आपके सीखने का प्रमाण है। सामग्री ऐसी होनी चाहिए कि इसका संदर्भ देकर आप अपनी सीखने की प्रक्रिया का वर्णन कर सकें और यह बता सकें कि आपने चुने हुए विषय की समझ कैसे बनाई है। यह विभिन्न स्रोतों से एकत्रित जानकारी का संश्लेषण है, जैसे कक्षा नोट्स, फ़ील्ड नोट्स, साक्षात्कार, चर्चाएं, किताबें, लेख, पत्रिकाएं, वीडियो स्रोत, समाचार पत्र, संग्रहालय दौरे, विशेषज्ञ बातचीत इत्यादि।
